Anyone have any windup trains?

Here is a Hafner, one along with a Mar-line's tender.
A save from a dump.
It is missing a wheel but I think I have one somewhere.
The motor still works. All need a cleaning.

Cool. I’m working a windup 1700. But no motor. I’ll have a Lionel electric motor in it. Orange & chrome.

It is good to see someone interested in running wind-ups. I have a few and have been producing a series of videos of my layout, The Lake Shore Railway. Now my Dad tossed this at me years ago, as he did he growled and if you didn't beat it up you would have a nice train now!
Do you have this one?

Now I know I didn't do it, it was my younger brother.
At the time my Dad was getting older and had problems, he would call me my Brothers name and call my Brother by my name.
So I took the pieces and thanked him. 

This is also a Halfner wind up. The motor still works.
I think I have 2 more passenger cars somewhere in my mess to go with these.

The cars survived my Brothers beating, the locomotive not so much.
I might have the cab top for it somewhere too.

These were made starting in 1937, this was part of the M1000 set (came with 4 units) and came in several variations. The engine with port hole in the side is one of the more collectible units.

I think the phrase started with them making fun of classified ads.

It is a shame that the locomotive had to be trashed instead of a passenger car.
I don't think my expertise is good enough to bang that out, but I might try.
I can't wreck it anymore then it is now.

My collection consists almost entirely of O gauge windup trains.  My first train set (at the age of two) was a Marx mechanical set, and that laid the foundation for my windup train obsession later in life.  My layout has all two-rail tinplate track with no electrical power... windup or onboard battery operated trains only.  I enjoy working on them and have made a few custom windups as well.  Just found this forum today, so this is my first post.  Glad to see some other windup fans here.

Here's a windup story.  .  . After College I worked for a while and had a Marx Commodore Vanderbilt on my desk. I'd wind it up and send it away down the hallway on the floor. It was fun.

One day I stuck it to the wall with some double-faced tape. It lookws neat just hanging there on the wall. IT was there for a while then one morning I came in to find a triangle shaped area of brown paper on the wall. The paper had seperated on the drywall, and the little loco had wrapped itself up in a tube.

I managed to get the wall looking ok with some white glue and staples and some moving of the artwork and furniture. I don't stick things to walls with double-face tape anymore.

Also a big fan of wind-ups, Marx, Hafner, Am Flyer, Joy Line etc.

One of my videos, A Taste of Hafner, is all Hafner wind-ups. Several other videos such as Lionel vs Am Flyer include some wind-ups.

I just watched one of Jim’s videos. Saw a copper & blue windup (Hefner I think) streamliner that I thought was really beautiful?
