The 248 electric with no handrails at the sides of the doors is an Ives body that Lionel is using from stock. These bodies were Lionel Irvington production made in the early 1930's. This body only seems to show-up on terra cotta 248's.
The black wood block is a modification, not factory, possibly to raise the body so an E-unit reverse will fit?
