I saw on EBay that there s a super nice Orange & Gray Lionel streamline jr. Hiawatha for just $ 9.99 starting bid. It’s in super shape, no dents or rust just scratched. If I didn’t have 7 of them I’d bid high for it. Motor runs, has e-unit. Smooth sided

The Jr Hiawatha sets are hard to find nice. I will probably go for a high price.

I’ve already been out bid! Six other folks have bid on the HW Jr. It’s up to $ 123.50. Still has 5 days to go! This set is really nice!

A nice set could go $400 to $500, I have seen them go even higher, because so hard to find with decent paint.

Apparently the glass negative of Lionel trains was bought by someone on Tinplate Times. It's posted on the Tinplate Times Facebook site and says it's the 1912 Lionel showroom layout at 381 Broadway in NY. Also heard the owner will make you a copy for $50. Thanks, but no thanks. The screen shot from eBay is just fine.

Mike - I can't see much on facebook because I don't have an account. The captions for the pictures I did see say there are earlier pictures of the same room posted. Can you grab one and post it here?

Here's something interesting. 1906/07 Lionel thin rim 5 loco with DUMMY headlight and split frame. The newest Greenberg says only 2 of these are known, but this is the second one I've seen for sale in the past 2 months.

 

The one in the Greenberg book and the one I saw last month both have holes in the boiler top behind the light hood. This one does not. The hole is for the wire so I was skeptical of the orginality of the last one.

The guy with the 5 is the same guy I bought the mohave 38 from a while back. He changed eBay accounts for some reason.

Terry, I found the pic. It's from July 1910 PLAYTHINGS magazine.  Same fellow. Wonder who he is?

Looks like they had a raised level that was removed between this one and the other. Them's the trains we're looking for!
